Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8778The popularization of digital platforms and the interactive nature of Web 2.0 have transformed the processes of information organization and retrieval. In collaborative environments dedicated to Japanese pop culture, such as MyAnimeList (MAL), IMDb, and AniList, users actively participate in content categorization through the use of informal descriptors. In this context, folksonomy, an indexing system based on the free attribution of tags, emerges as a relevant strategy for knowledge representation in digital environments. This study analyzes how folksonomy manifests in three collaborative platforms devoted to the cataloging and recommendation of anime, identifying its variations among indirect, hybrid, and assisted models. The research adopts a qualitative, exploratory, and comparative approach, based on a case study involving ten popular anime titles present across the three platforms. Content analysis, as proposed by Bardin (2011), was applied to the collected tags, public lists, and user comments, aiming to understand the semantic and social dimensions of collaborative categorization. The study is grounded in a theoretical framework that articulates the contributions of Hjørland (2002), regarding the sociocognitive dimension of knowledge organization; Vander Wal (2007), concerning the origin and conceptualization of folksonomy; and Santarém Segundo (2010), in relation to assisted folksonomy and technological mediation in collaborative indexing. Results indicate that MyAnimeList demonstrates an indirect folksonomy, characterized by spontaneous and subjective categorization, particularly related to narrative and emotional aspects. In contrast, IMDb and AniList operate under more structured models: the former employs a hybrid folksonomy that combines institutional moderation with controlled keyword insertion, while the latter uses an assisted folksonomy, integrating collaborative tags directly into search and filtering mechanisms. It is concluded that the different folksonomy models significantly influence both user participation and the efficiency of information retrieval, reinforcing its role as a strategic tool for collaborative knowledge organization in digital environments.
