This study had the objective of identifying the species that use the area as a feeding, breeding and nursery area. Data was collected in December 2006 and December 2007 in the area adjacent to Vila do Conde (impacted area) and in Caripi (reference area). The use of the area as feeding ground was characterized by the presence of individuals with contents on their stomachs; the use of the area as a breeding ground was characterized by the presence of individuals with mature and spent gonads and the use of the area as a nursery was characterized by the presence of immature individuals. The index of relative abundance CPUE was used with the objective of standardizing the dara and to compare the abundance of the ichthyofauna considering the spatial aspects, time and the main species caught. A total of 635 individuals in 23 species were caught, mainly from the orders Siluriformes, Peciformes and Clupeiformes. The higher CPUE obtained in both years was for area of Vila do Conde, especially for sarda (Pellona flavipinnis) and pescada branca (Plagioscion squamosissimus). The species are mostly of small and medium size. Amongst the species examined, the highest length and weight were reported for filhote (Brachyplatystoma filamentosum) and mapará (Hypophthalmus marginatus). The adjacent area of terminal Vila Cone is configured as a feeding area. Due to the high percentage of individuals in maturational stage A, the area was characterized primarily as a nursery area which is characterized as sensitive to possible spills of chemical compounds. There was not reported differences in relation to both areas and years of study, and it is inferred that both areas (Vila do Conde and Caripi) are homogeneous with respect to impacts related to the ichthyofaunaAcesso AbertoIctiofaunaReprodução animalAlimentaçãoBarcarena - PACNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::OCEANOGRAFIAO uso da ictiofauna como zona de alimentação, reprodução e berçário em Barcarena (PA) no período secoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
