Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9164This work aims to present how school gardens, as pedagogical spaces, can contribute to the promotion of environmental education and food culture and security in the formative process of students, based on a case study of the implementation of a school garden project, developed by a teacher together with a class of 28 students in the 3rd year of Elementary School - Early Years, at the Shekiná Municipal Elementary School (EMEF), in the municipality of Moju - PA. This research employs a qualitative approach, developed through a case study conducted at the aforementioned school. Data collection involved direct and participant observation and document analysis, based on monitoring the project and the 3rd-grade class of Elementary School - Early Years, at EMEF Shekiná, which participated in its development. The data were analyzed using the Content Analysis technique, allowing for an understanding of the pedagogical and environmental practices related to the school garden project. The results show that the school garden proved to be a significant pedagogical practice, capable of integrating theory and practice, fostering student leadership, promoting healthy eating habits, and strengthening ties between school, family, and community. Based on the principles of Environmental Education, current legislation, and the assumptions of agroecology, the project allowed students to have interdisciplinary experiences, valuing local knowledge and civic education.
