Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9286This study aims to analyze the spatiotemporal variability of precipitation in the state of Pará, from 1995 to 2024, and its impacts on the main rivers of Pará, with emphasis on the most recent periods of severe drought in the region. To this end, rainfall data from the Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Stations (CHIRPS) and data from official agencies such as INMET, INPE, ANA, and SEMAS were used, in addition to photographic records obtained in the field in 2023 and 2024. Climate change has caused significant alterations in the hydrological regime of the Amazon, intensifying the occurrence of extreme weather events. The results indicate a high interannual variability of precipitation, with a tendency for an increase in these events, especially in 2023 and 2024, associated with the El Niño phenomenon and the intensification of anthropogenic activities, such as deforestation and fires. It was observed that the reduction in rainfall directly impacted several rivers in 2023 and 2024 in the state, causing low water levels, exposure of riverbeds, and harm to riverside populations and biodiversity.
