Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9360This work deals with the territorial identity of riverine peoples, using as its object of study the Riverine Community of Rio Tentém, located in the District of Juaba, in the municipality of Cametá-PA. The aim was to portray the territorial identity of these people through their experience of the territory, a geographical space where the river dwellers express their traditions and maintain a specific way of life, which is expressed through their customs, beliefs, festivals, knowledge/doings, re-existence and their relationship with society/nature. The reality experienced by riverside peoples determines, in one way or another, their territorial identity. The aim of this paper is therefore to analyze the elements that construct and determine the territorial identity of the Amazon's riverside peoples, showing how they express their territorial identity in a riverside area, on the Tentém river, in Cametá (PA) and, from this study, to contribute to the formation of riverside visibility. As a methodological contribution, we carried out bibliographical research and field research in the locality, using the questionnaire technique and semi-structured interviews to compare theory and practice in the study.
