This article aims to highlight the melancholy and longing experienced by these migrants, who were practically forced to relocate due to the harsh living conditions in the northeastern backlands. It examines the migratory process to Pará, considering it a relevant topic for the Paraense cartography (northern Brazil) of the early 20th century, through the perspective of the migrant in the Amazon. This is a bibliographical research, using the novel Terra de Icamiaba by Abguar Bastos as the corpus of analysis, along with other academic articles that also explore migration in the Amazon as part of the theoretical framework.
