For the manufacture of aluminum-based parts, the manufacturing process is an important item to be considered, as they go through the casting and solidification process. Unidirectional solidification is a resource used when one wishes to characterize the behavior of an alloy for a given cooling rate. Unidirectional solidification molds are specifically designed to control the direction and rate of cooling during metal solidification. They can be made from refractory materials and have a cooling system at the bottom to promote heat extraction in a controlled manner. Therefore, the main objective of the work was to build an ascending unidirectional solidification device with a transient heat flow regime and verify its efficiency through macro and microstructural analyzes of aluminum-based alloys. To manufacture the device, refractory materials, electrical resistance and a temperature controller were used. Subsequently, the heating curve was obtained, which showed that the device in approximately 3 minutes reached a temperature of 800 ºc and had a maximum of 1000 ºc, having inside the amount of heat and desirable temperature in order to obtain a gradient just in one direction.
