Among the CBVDs that have the highest mortality rates, in Brazil is the stroke, according to official data from the Ministry of Health, in 2020, the state of Pará was the leader in absolute number of deaths from stroke in the northern region in Brazil, and the municipality of Altamira was the 4th largest in number of deaths among the municipalities of Pará. When carrying out epidemiological work on the subject, the results can inform about the government's capacity to provide services for health promotion, disease prevention and care for the population, and if necessary, carry out action/improvement plans. Objective: To evaluate the rates related to hospitalizations and deaths caused by cerebrovascular accident (ischemic and hemorrhagic), in patients treated in health facilities in Altamira/PA, from January 2009 to December 2020. Method: Using data from Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the IBGE Automatic Recovery System (SIDRA) and the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS/TABNET), registered during the period from January 2009 to December 2020, were carried out calculations of incidence, mortality and analysis of time series of hospitalizations and deaths using the non-parametric Mann-Kendall test, in order to verify whether there was a trend pattern in these values. Result: Analyzing the general values, there was a reduction in the trend of hospitalizations while there was an increase in the trend in the number of deaths. This trend was repeated in both sexes, male and female. Analyzing by age group, it was found that there was a trend towards a reduction in hospitalizations in individuals aged between 30 and 39 years and between 50 and 79 years. Regarding the number of deaths, individuals aged 40 to 69 years showed an increasing trend in the period. Conclusion: In the data analysis, it was observed that, contrary to the hypotheses and national and international statistics, the city of Altamira presented divergent results in relation to national statistics, which leads us to the conclusion that the way the data should be evaluated. On stroke are entered into the SUS information system, taking into account the context of the health services offered in the region during the study period.
