Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9595Introduction: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breastfeeding is when a baby receives milk from the mother, regardless of other foods. In Brazil, despite efforts to promote this practice, challenges remain in achieving the estimated rates. Difficulties with proper latching, the presence of nipple trauma, and lack of information are some of these challenges. An extension project aimed at providing knowledge and guidance through accessible technological resources sought to impact the reduction of early weaning. Objective: To develop educational and informative actions about breastfeeding in a municipality in the Xingu integration region. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, through a university extension project utilizing social media, secondary data, and communication metrics, targeting users of the Instagram® social network, students, pregnant women, postpartum women, and healthcare professionals in the municipality of Altamira-PA. Results: A visual identity was created for the project, and educational videos on breastfeeding were produced, along with the development of an informative/interactive booklet. These materials were disseminated through virtual and physical means, with publication on social media and visits to public health units in the municipality. Discussion: Recognizing the need for health education on the topic, the products generated by Amamentar Xingu followed steps recommended by the literature and were responsible for reaching a high number of individuals with scientific knowledge dissemination, particularly due to the ease provided by the use of ICTs today.
