Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8976This study proposes a semantic-lexical investigation of the lexicon of romantic relationships used by elderly and young individuals in the municipality of Bragança-PA. The objective of the study is to verify the preservation or updating of the lexicon related to romantic relationships in the speech of the elderly and the youth in the mentioned municipality. The research is based on the assumption that languages vary and undergo changes throughout their trajectory, and each generation maintains a lexical repertoire in constant dynamism that reflects a specific historical period, revealing the values, cultures, and worldviews operating at a given time. This work is the result of bibliographic research and fieldwork with elderly individuals aged 60 and above, and young people between 18 and 25 years old, born and residing in the municipality of Bragança-PA. The study draws on representative authors from distinct areas: Biderman (1984, 2001) and Faulstich (1995) as theoretical support for addressing the lexical aspect of the research; Calvet (2002), Mollica and Braga (2013) to ground the notions of linguistic variation and change; Gil (2002) and Pereira et al. (2018) for methodological foundations; and Monteiro (2007), Pretti (1991), Haddad (2016), and Brandão and Parente (2001) to support the relations between aging and language.
