Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7016Long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) have several benefits in effective contraceptive control and use, however their adherence has barriers among university students, including those in health sciences. In this scenario, this project aims to analyze medical students’ knowledge and adherence to the use of LARCs, as well as their perception about medical education on the subject. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study, developed at Medical School of the Federal University of Pará. It included legal age female students, properly registered in the second, sixth or twelfth period, who had already started their sexual life. Data were obtained through a questionnaire and represented in Microsoft Excel® 2013 and analyzed in Bioestat 5.3. The majority of participants were at the age between 18 and 25 years old, mixed race, single, and had access to health plans. The majority used a contraceptive method, especially oral contraceptives, and there was a global lack of knowledge about LARCs. Furthermore, the participants' perception highlights to the deficit in the teaching regarding such methods in the academic curriculum and in the personal physician.
