Knowledge about the Squamata fauna of the Brazilian Amazonian biome has been accumulating in several herpetofaunistic studies that show that the Amazon region holds a large part of the world's biodiversity and concentrates a huge richness of lizards and snakes. The Municipality of Breves has a large territorial expansion, however not too much explored when it comes to faunal studies, which justifies the realization of the present work. Thus, the objective was to describe the faunal composition of Squamata from Breves - Marajó Island, Pará. From April to November 2019, Squamata collections were performed and four sampling methods were simultaneously used: Active night search, Occasional encounters, gathering by third parties and trapping and falling with fence guiding. The richness of snake and lizard species (Squamata) inventoried through this study and based on the literature for the municipality of Breves was 58 species in general. The snakes richly represent 29 species distributed in six families: Anilidae (1), Boidae (3), Colubridae (9), Dipsadidae (13), Elapidae (2) and Viperidae (1). And the lizards, whose richness is 29 species and are distributed in 11 families: Gekkonidade (1), Phylodactylidae (1), Sphaerodactydae (4), Mabuyidae (2), Dactyloidae (4), Iguanidae (1), Tropiduridae (4 ), Alopoglossidae (3), Gymnophthalmidae (1), Teiidae (5) and Amphisbaenidae (3). Of this total, 20 species were exclusively registered for the first time in the municipality during the present study. This shows that new samples are important for the recognition of Squamata fauna in poorly sampled Amazonian locations. Given the above the present study contributes to the knowledge of the fauna of Squamatas of Breves Municipality and the Brazilian Amazon Biome.Acesso AbertoSerpentesLagartosComposição faunísticaSnakesLizardsFaunistic compositionCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::ECOLOGIA::ECOLOGIA DE ECOSSISTEMASSquamata do município de Breves-PA, Ilha do MarajóTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
