Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5588OBJECTIVE: To compare the metabolic and anthropometric profile of Gavião Kyikatêje indigenous people living in the Mãe Maria Indigenous Reserve (Pará) in 2007 and 2022. METHOD: In this cross­sectional study, 316 Gavião Kyikatejê indigenous people were evaluated, 174 of them women and 142 men, aged 18 years or over in the years 2007 and 2022. During the physical examination, blood pressure, weight, height and waist circumference were obtained. Blood samples were collected to measure triglycerides, total cholesterol and blood glucose, respecting the minimum fasting time of 9 hours. In the data analysis, the proportions of the biological variables (BMI, WC, dyslipidemia, blood glucose levels and arterial hypertension) were compared using the chi­square test, using the SPSS for Windows software (version 17.0). The project was approved by the research ethics committee of the Nucleus of Tropical Medicine (NMT) at UFPA and by the National Research Ethics Committee (CONEP). RESULTS: The prevalence of overweight (30.4% versus 39.8%) and obesity (26.8% versus 37.4%) increased significantly from 2007 to 2022. The prevalence of abdominal obesity (74% versus 70.1%) did not change between the same period. Type 2 diabetes mellitus was found in 5.1% and 15.4% and dyslipidemia in 37.2% and 56% between 2007 and 2022, respectively. CONCLUSION: Considerable metabolic and anthropometric alterations were observed among the Gavião Kyikatêje indigenous people during the study periods.
