The specific objectives are: to discuss climate change and its socio environmental consequences; to highlight the conflicts between economic development and environmental protection and conservation in Brazil; and to present some legal challenges in the environmental field specific to the State of Pará. Regarding methodology, the study is exploratory in nature and is based on bibliographical, documentary, and statistical research. Its approach is qualitative; despite presenting statistical data, the analysis focuses on identifying and understanding scientifically proven facts and events related to climate issues and their consequences, verifying the relationship of these facts and events with environmental legislation and other areas of Brazilian law, as well as their effective application. The relevance of this study lies in the recognition that climate change and environmental sustainability are everyone's responsibility, and that the exceptional nature of the climate change we are experiencing is worsening daily and affecting the socio-environmental and economic aspects of our society. The results indicate that many obstacles prevent Brazil from advancing environmental sustainability and complying with the agreements signed to reduce GHG emissions related to the climate agenda. These include: the lack of interaction between some areas of Brazilian law, especially agrarian and financial law, to achieve these objectives; political setbacks and the dismantling of environmental legislation at the municipal, state, and federal levels; and the growing judicialization of environmental and civil crimes, which compromises the effectiveness of punitive actions due to the slowness of the judicial system and greater integration between environmental agencies and the judiciary.Acesso AbertoDireito ambientalAgenda climáticaEstado de direitoAtuação legislativa e jurídicaEnvironmental lawClimate agendaRule of lawLegislative and legal actionCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::DIREITOConflitos entre direito ambiental e interesses econômicos que impactam negativamente na agenda climáticaTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
