Progresso e tradição: implicação e resistência geoespacial para a preservação da cultura e biodiversidade em comunidades na Amazônia Metropolitana. Orientador: Marcelo Augusto Machado Vasconcelos. 2025. 21 f. Trabalho de Curso (Tecnólogo em Geoprocessamento) – Faculdade de Tecnologia em Geoprocessamento, Campus Universitário de Ananindeua, Universidade Federal do Pará, Ananindeua, 2025. Disponível em: https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7761. Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7761The purpose of the article is to praise the culture of traditional communities in the Amazon, the riverside community “Minha Senhora dos Navegantes” which has existed for more than thirty years and the territory “Quilombola do Abacatal” with three hundred years of (re)existence, both communities have their social technologies and struggle to survive, as both are located in the Metropolitan Region of Belem (RMB). Through action research, technical visits were carried out and conversations were held with community residents and with responsible leaders and people living in the region. As they are communities that are close to urban centers, the problems faced by these communities are precisely progress that does not bring benefits and progress can cause these communities to disappear over the years. Through geoprocessing, remote sensing and database techniques, we can identify problems related to pseudoprogress. The results indicate that pseudoprogress related to its geolocation, progress and tradition, as well as pseudodevelopment with its geospatial implications and resistance, cause changes due to several factors, among them, the lack of demarcation/title and monitoring, which gives rise to the invasion of their lands, through large unscrupulous “development” projects, with the aim of developing the region with a character incompatible with the use of land and the use of natural resources, causing a decrease in the area of the territory inherited from their ancestors. In conclusion, this situation affects customs and traditions due to “progress” that modifies ancestral and religious habits in the communities “Our Lady of Navegantes” and “Quilombola do Abacatal”, culminating in pollution, deforestation, unbridled growth of cities, which has led to a social pseudo-evolution and preservation of biodiversity.
