In the Amazon, backyards have particularities, combining cultural habits and productive diversity. In the quilombola community of Vila União/Campinas, these spaces are popularly called terreiros. This article aims to describe the contribution of socio-productive yards to ensuring Food Sovereignty and Security, with special attention to the involvement of women in the development of these spaces. The construction of the data on which the analyzes are based took place between April 2021 and June 2022 and was based on bibliographical research to contextualize the reality to be researched, on participant observation and on semi-structured interviews, with the aim of listening to families. quilombolas and understand their socio-productive dynamics. The use of a field diary and photographic record complement these instruments. Eighteen quilombola women were involved in this research. The predominance of female work was verified; women are primarily responsible for the management carried out, as well as for the choice of what is cultivated. In the 18 terreiros visited, 45 fruit species, 38 medicinal species were found, in addition to raising chickens, ducks and pigs. These terreiros are evidenced as biodiverse spaces that contribute significantly to guaranteeing Food and Nutrition Security and Sovereignty for quilombola families.
