Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8696This paper discusses the phenomenon of negation, especially with regard to the item “confia”, which, depending on the context and communicative intention, takes on a negative value, given that this resource is not restricted to adverbs considered canonical in Brazilian Portuguese. The objective is to analyze and discuss the role of the unit “confia” as a form of non-canonical negation in discursive interactions on social network X. The research is qualitative in nature, since the analysis and interpretation of the collected data are fundamental aspects for the construction of meanings. The theoretical construct draws on authors such as Givón (1995), Martelotta and Areas (2003), Bybee (2010), Rosário (2022), and Oliveira (2020), who investigate language from a functionalist perspective, in which language is malleable and motivated and, therefore undergoes changes according to the intentions and needs of each speaker. In this logic, this article is justified by the intention to understand how linguistic terms, which present a state of negation, through expressive communicative acts, change in view of a linguistic demand. Thus, it is necessary to point out that language is not a rigid and autonomous system, since speakers are highly expressive and, for this reason, when they recruit and recycle already established forms, they modify this structure according to their discursive objectives, a fact that demonstrates the essentiality between language and communication.Acesso AbertoFenômeno da negaçãoFaceta funcionalistaConfiaInterações discursivasPhenomenon of negationFunctionalist perspectiveDiscursive interactionsCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTESA funcionalidade do item lexical “Confia” como forma não canônica de negação na rede social XTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - ArtigoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
