The justification is supported by the proximity to the topic throughout the year 2022, through academic activities provided by the undergraduate program. The research is of a basic nature, with an exploratory-descriptive design and a qualitative approach. The research method used was Field Research, based on observation and questionnaire application. The procedures used were bibliographical research for the construction of the theoretical framework, through the conceptualization of information mediation. The study is characterized as descriptive exploratory research, through field research to carry out data collection. As for the nature of the data collected, it was based on observation and a questionnaire prepared in order to know the competences and abilities that the professional librarian has and to know the profile of the information mediators. The study was conceived based on the need for understanding the mediation of information and reading and the dimensions of mediation in practice in the Library. It is concluded that the mediation of information and reading plays a crucial role in contemporary society, helping us navigate through a world full of information and develop our intellectual potential.
