Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10380This study aims to identify performative manifestations within the festivity and luminous procession of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, held in the Cidade Velha neighborhood in Belém, Pará, between 2023, 2024 and 2025. The reserarch analyzes aspects of faith, devotional practices, and cultural elements expressed through the actions of the faithful of the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. The study originated from the 2023 research project developed through the Institutional Program for Artisctic Initiation Scholarships (PIBIPA), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ivone Xavier, and was further developed in tthe following years. The investigation adopted a qualitative approach, using participant observation as the primary data collection method, in addition to bibliographic research, documentary analysis, and records produced throughout the celebrations. The study is mainly grounded in Richard Schechner’s (2006) theories of performance and Victor Turner’s (1974) theories of ritual, while also drawing on the contributions of Amanda Melo (2015), Leda Martins (2021), Michel de Certeau (1990) and Ricardo Souza (2013). The findings reveal that the festivity and procession of Nossa Senhora da Conceição constitute a space marked by symbolic meanings, performative practices, and collective expressions of faith.
