Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/991This study aimed to characterize and quantify solid waste from the city of Comercinho-MG in order to provide a set of information forming the basis for future treatment alternatives. These organic materials present high potential for energy agriculture . This work may supply also conditions to improve the recycle method to the inorganic materials present in municipal solid waste (MSW). Monthly this city produces about 60 tons of RSU, and according to the methodology used, the results revealed that the physical composition quantitative (weight% - wet basis) of MSW is: organic matter = 40.2%, paper and cardboard = 13.0% , metal = 3.3%, plastic = 12.0%, glass = 2.4%, other = 27.1%. According to these percentages, the organic matter generated monthly could be commercialized between R$ 2.530,00 and R$ 3.800,00, while the inorganic residue, properly separated, could reach values around R$ 10.000,00.
