Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9467This article analyzes the relationship between Critical Environmental Education (CEE) and Geography teaching at the Casa Escola da Pesca (CEPE), located on Caratateua Island, in Belém, Pará, within a context of socio-environmental conflicts in the insular Amazon. Grounded in historical-critical pedagogy, the study adopted a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews, observations, document analysis, and fieldwork conducted in 2023 and 2024, involving teachers, fishing technicians, students, and local residents. Thematic content analysis showed that Geography teaching, articulated with the lived territory, integrates scientific and traditional knowledge through interdisciplinary practices, community projects, and field activities in rivers and mangroves, fostering critical reflection on water pollution, environmental degradation, and the impacts of port and tourism expansion.
