Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8620The inclusion and retention of students with disabilities in mainstream education is still a challenge for teachers mainly generated by insufficient vocational training, structure and resources. Considering that the learning process happens with the presence of the teacher and the methodologies that he / she uses in the classroom, being one of the main mediators of knowledge, it is necessary that this professional is properly qualified and qualified to deal with these students. and so that they have a good performance and development and thus can continue their studies. From this perspective, the research aims to investigate how teachers of the school system of the municipality of Breves, PA, act in front of students with disabilities inserted in regular education. This is a qualitative research, in which five teachers and two educators from three public elementary schools in the municipality of Breves participated. To achieve the research objectives, it was adopted as data collection strategy the application of questionnaires containing eleven open questions, in which they participated. The application of the questionnaire resulted in the perception of a part of the teachers and support staff that approve the inclusion factor, but still have a lack of motivation to work with inclusion because they do not have the necessary resources at their disposal. The permanence of students with disabilities in the regular school environment is a great challenge, considering the obstacles that still need to be overcome.
