Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8438The environmental issue is central point actually, especially when we consider that we are experiencing an authentic environmental crisis, like all sorts of interrelated events, namely: increased production of solid wastes and industrial contaminants, deforestation, degradation and desertification of soils, increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, increasing loss of biological diversity, declining water resources, etc. Such a state of affairs is due to inadequate environmental practices, assumed by society, both individually and collectively, shaping issues of unsustainability. In this scenario the discussion about environmental practices acquires relevance, especially when we are giving it to future teachers, opinion formers and value disseminators associated with sustainability. Motivated to know the environmental practices of future teachers, we justify the present work. The perspective is to contribute to the setting up of scenarios that reveal the relationship of future teachers with the natural environment, materialized in environmental practices, in order to consider the competences for sustainability. With this, the main objective of this work is to apprehend the aspects related to environmental practices, specifically with regard to water, energy and waste topics. The present research was guided by the qualitative approach and is also characterized as a case study. We adopted as a data collection instrument a questionnaire containing three closed questions and two open questions, focusing on the environmental practices developed by graduates of different teaching areas, from the Campus de Breves, Marajó Archipelago, State of Pará, in relation to the themes water, energy and waste. The students' answers (data) were analyzed through interpretative analysis, pondering their results and drawing conclusions, in the light of references that discuss the environmental and (in) sustainability issues. The analyzes of the subjects' speeches point to three categories of analysis that facilitate the interpretation of the evidenced data, namely: 1) Recycling / reuse as good environmental practices; 2) planet earth our home and finally 3) the finitude of natural resources.
