This study evaluates the installation of waste collectors in public transportation in Tucuruí-PA, considering legal and technical aspects and user perceptions. Federal, state, and municipal legislation was mapped, the suitability of vehicles was analyzed, and passenger questionnaires were administered. It was found that, at the federal level, there are some bills filed in the Senate. Approximately 30% of states and capitals have laws on the subject, and in Pará, only Belém and Castanhal have regulations. It was found that there is a lack of adequate infrastructure on buses and broad support from passengers for the installation of collectors. The implementation of accessible trash cans, educational messages, and public policies for regulation are recommended.
