Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7910In this work, the supervised internship report is presented, developed during the period from 10/04/2023 to 07/01/2024, under the guidance of the Automation Engineer of the company Vale S.A, Diego Rodrigo Dolla, internship supervisor. This work was prepared following Resolution No. 1/2024 of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering - CAMTUC, which regulates the terms of the flexibilization of the Course Completion Work in IN No. 5/2023 of PROEG - UFPA, under the guidance of Professor Andrécia Pereira da Costa. The internship was carried out at the Salobo Automation Coordination of Vale S.A, in the city of Parauapebas/PA. The study investigated the implementation of the Proportional-Integral (PI) controller in the Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) 800xA system for lime dosage control in ore flotation. The main objective was to evaluate the impacts of this automation on the stability of the mineral pulp pH, operational efficiency, and reagent consumption. For this purpose, a case study was conducted in a copper beneficiation plant, where operational data were analyzed before and after the implementation of the automated system. The results indicated a significant reduction in pH oscillations, ensuring greater predictability and process control, as well as optimizing lime usage and improving flotation selectivity. The integration of the PI controller with industrial sensors and communication via the Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) protocol enabled dynamic adjustments in reagent dosage, reducing the need for manual interventions and increasing system reliability.
