Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2009The Yellowing Fatal (AF) of oil palm is the disease that affects the culture of oil palm ( Elaeis guineesis , Jacq ) in Brazil , so this has been a major concern of researchers and producers who work with this palm . Despite research studies on the cause or the causal agent of AF were not yet conclusive results, which makes it difficult the development of control measures obtained. This research aimed to conduct a study of cases of endemic outbreaks of fatal yellowing , eradication and loss by the action of lightning, occurring in the area of oil palm plantations , the AGROPALMA , city of Thailand - Pará , in a period of 4 years , 2007-2010 , and correlate with meteorological elements such as temperature regime air , relative humidity, rainfall and maximum insolation . The Yellowing Fatal (AF) showed a strong correlation coefficient with rainfall (0.71) and relative humidity (0.81) and weak correlation coefficient with the air temperature (0.32). The number of occurrence of plants infected with the Yellowing Fatal annual average was 2,047. These infected plants has been increasing during an annual average of 100 cases and struck by lightning on average of 200 cases has been decreasing. We suggest, intensive health inspections in order to quickly detect the early symptoms of the occurrence of AF, to avoid large losses in quality, quantity and performance in the agricultural production of oil palm.
