We started by applying this formalism to simpler systems of quan tum mechanics such as the quantum harmonic oscillator, obtaining Green’s functions. After that, we apply the functional method in quantum field theory to calculate the effective potential of the λφ4 theory and build the renormalization group equation for this potential, determining the renormalized mass and coupling constant. Subsequently, we use the Matsu bara frequencies to insert thermal effects in the effective potential and make the connection between this object and thermodynamics.
