All of these factor contribute to the occurrence of physical and dental injuries. Among these, facial and dental injuries stand out for their frequency and severity, reflecting the violence and structural vulnerabilities inherent in prison. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of facial injuries associated with forensic traumatology in individuals deprived of liberty, as well as to assess the main oral alterations, identify head and neck injuries resulting from trauma, and characterize their most frequent causes and types. This is a cross-sectional analytical study conducted with 163 individuals detained at the Marituba II Custody and Reintegration Unit in the state of Pará, Brazil. Data were collected through questionnaires and clinical examinations and analyzed using descriptive statistics, association tests (chi-square and Fisher's exact), and bivariate logistic regression, adopting a significance level of 5%. The results showed that 31.9% of participants had facial injuries, predominantly lacerations and blunt-cut injuries, while 12.3% had dental injuries, mainly enamel and dentin fractures and subluxations, most commonly in the upper anterior teeth. Dental injuries were associated with age (p = 0.002) and length of incarceration (p = 0.046), but not with the reason for arrest or alcohol and drug use. It was concluded that there was a moderate prevalence of facial trauma and a low prevalence of dental trauma between the study sample.
