Man can get the disease by eating contaminated foods such as raw or undercooked vegetables, which shelter the Toxoplasma cysts after having had contact with the feces of host animals. Besides these foods, contaminated soil and infected rodents, partially or totally ingested, are involved as a consequence of the carnivorous habits of the animals. Toxoplasma gondii, the etiological agent of toxoplasmosis, has the cat as the definitive host, and man and other animals as intermediate hosts. Children can become infected by playing in playgrounds where felines deposit their feces. This disease can cause serious systemic lesions, ranging from neurological, osteo-muscular, respiratory to ocular signs, among others. This work aims to demonstrate through literary review some aspects of toxoplasmosis, such as hygiene with food, which are in evidence in the transmission of toxoplasmosis as well as the consequences caused by it mainly in cases of ocular toxoplasmosis.Acesso AbertoToxoplasmoseSaúde públicaHigieneToxoplasmosisPublic healthHygieneCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::SAUDE COLETIVA::SAUDE PUBLICAConsequências da toxoplasmose pós-natal : uma revisão de literaturaTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
