This study carries out a bibliographic survey aiming to achieve its principal scope, namely: an examination of how the “Aesthetics of violence” is represented in the pages of contemporary Brazilian fiction. In other words, how the various form the urban barbarisms arise as aesthetics forms in national literature, a thematic that was spread in our Literature, mainly, from the 1970’s onwards with the short stories of Rubem Fonseca (1925-2020). For this research, a number of authors were used, such as: Hobsbawm, Steiner, among others. In the study of the cited romances, it was concluded that, by means of the “Aesthetics of violence” writers from the most different places of country inscribed Literature into the debate about sociocultural, political and economic fractures that afflicted, especially, the common man in the second half of the 20th century and in the first decades of the 21st century, with the leaden cosmopolitanism of violence.
