Throughout history, various models of venues, architectural or otherwise, have been and are used to play this role, which is fundamental to today's society. The cultural center emerged as a synthesis of artistic and cultural manifestations, striving to democratize access to culture and disseminate knowledge and art through an architectural element intended for the general public. In Brazil, the first models of cultural center began to appear only in the second half of the 20th century and with an absolute predominance in the Southeast region of the country. In the current Brazilian situation, these buildings are more widely distributed throughout the country, although they continue to be clustered in the main urban centers, a scenario that is exacerbated in the North, where the supply of urban facilities for art and culture is below the country's average. In this context, the city of Castanhal, in the state of Pará, faces a relative shortage of facilities, even though it is part of the metropolitan region, has more than 200,000 inhabitants and still plays an important role as a regional economic hub. In this way, the aim of this work is to propose an architectural project for a cultural center suited to the reality of Castanhal, which aims to meet the cultural demands of the region, reduce dependence on the capital and extend the reach of cultural facilities to the interior of the state.
