Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10003Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) is an anatomical-functional disorder that affects the muscles of chewing, the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) or both structures. It is one of the most common orofacial pain of non-dental origin with a prevalence of 5 to 7% of the population, being considered a public health problem. The main symptom of TMD is pain and, when chronic, it affects the quality of life. As classes of drugs commonly used in the condition of antidepressants, anticonvulsants and muscle relaxants that modulate symptomatology in these issues. The purpose of this study was to review the literature on the main drugs used to control TMD, objective of this work and attempt, as well as the possible causes of TMD. Literature was searched in the following databases: Pubmed, Scielo and Lilacs between the scientific years from 2010 to 2021. As an inclusion review, literature and systematic articles and randomized clinical cases, blind placebo-controlled with the TMD theme, were selected. considering aspects of pharmacological treatment. As an exclusion exclusivity, articles in which the was not a DTM abstract, abstracts in congresses and opinions were discarded. After selecting the articles, reading the title and abstracts, 8 selected articles were being reviewed and clinical studies were selected on the subject.
