Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8602This study had the general objective of analyzing literacy practices in the early years of Elementary Education at the Municipal School Deputado Osvaldo Brabo de Carvalho, located in a rural and riverside context in the municipality of Muaná, Pará. The research sought to answer the following question: what literacy practices are being developed by the first-grade teacher, and how do they contribute to students’ reading and writing learning? A qualitative and descriptive approach was adopted, using informal interviews and direct observation as data collection instruments, which were analyzed through content analysis. The results revealed that, despite structural difficulties, limited family participation, and scarce educational resources, the teacher organized practices that integrated local culture, playfulness, and didactic intentionality, thus fostering meaningful learning. Strategies such as the use of students’ names, generative words linked to the riverside daily life, and the production of collective texts were identified as effective in expanding the linguistic repertoire and strengthening the connection between school and community. The study concludes that literacy in Amazonian contexts requires reflective practice, creativity, and social commitment, demonstrating that culturally situated pedagogical approaches have greater potential to promote the formation of critical readers and writers.
