Cocoa cultivation (Theobroma cacao L.), when managed under Agroforestry Systems (AFS), emerges as a promising alternative for the state of Pará. The objective of this study is to analyze the ecological contributions of sustainable cocoa farming to the environmental preservation of the biome. Through a qualitative literature review, the role of cocoa AFS in maintaining ecosystem services was investigated. The results demonstrate that these systems function as vital ecological refuges and corridors, promoting the connectivity of forest fragments and the conservation of regional biodiversity. Significant efficiency in atmospheric carbon sequestration was also observed, ranging from 40 to 100 tons per hectare, which mitigates greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the continuous deposition of leaf litter accelerates nutrient cycling and protects the soil against erosive processes, restoring the physical and chemical properties of previously degraded areas.
