Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8588This Undergraduate Thesis presents the development and evaluation of a prototype intelligent surveillance system, capable of detecting in real time the presence of firearms and the use of disguises, such as full-face helmets and caps, commonly used in criminal activities. The prototype was implemented using computer vision and deep learning techniques, employing Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) based on the YOLO (You Only Look Once) architecture, in its YOLOv8, YOLOv9, and YOLOv10 versions. The methodology included the creation and organization of an annotated dataset, model training with data augmentation techniques, and performance evaluation using standardized metrics such as precision, recall, and mean Average Precision (mAP) for comparative analysis. The results demonstrated the evolution of the models across recent versions, highlighting YOLOv8, which achieved the best overall performance in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency. In addition to the technical analysis, the study discusses ethical and legal aspects related to the application of automated surveillance systems, such as privacy and algorithmic bias.
