Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10226The present study aims to analyze the importance of dance in non-formal educational settings as an inclusive pedagogical practice, with emphasis on its contributions to the social, emotional, cultural, and motor development of neurodivergent students—understood here as individuals with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and dyscalculia. The research is based on the understanding that dance transcends the artistic field and entertainment, constituting itself as an educational tool capable of providing enriching experiences of learning, bodily expression, social interaction, and the development of autonomy. The investigation is grounded in the perspective of inclusive education and neurodiversity, recognizing that each individual possesses unique characteristics, needs, and potentialities that must be respected and valued in the educational process. To this end, a qualitative study was conducted through the application of a questionnaire to the guardians of neurodivergent students at the FUNFIT KIDS academy, seeking to understand families’ perceptions of the impact of dance on children’s development. The results indicate that dance in informal settings fosters socialization, self-esteem, respect for diversity, and the reduction of prejudice, while also contributing to the development of motor, cognitive, emotional, and cultural skills. It is concluded that dance, when developed in non-formal spaces, goes beyond its recreational character and assumes a transformative educational role, promoting inclusion, empathy, and citizenship, reaffirming itself as an essential instrument for the holistic development of neurodivergent students.
