Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2594This paper has as its theme "Participation, Co-Participation and Non-Participation: Reflections on Balance in Family and School Relations", and it is justified, since school and family can have affinities to help in the student's teaching and learning process, and wants to understand the reasons for not participating in the activities promoted by the school, according to the discourse of those responsible for the 5th Year of Elementary School in a public school in Santa Maria do Pará. The general objective is to understand the reasons for their non-participation in the activities promoted by the school in the articulation of the analyzes of researchers of the family and school subject and according to the discourse of those responsible for the students of a public school in Santa Maria do Pará. . As specific objectives we intend to: Evaluate if the reasons pointed out by the parents of the students for their absence from the school meetings are predicted or analyzed in the specific literature that addresses this theme; Check how the participation of the family in the school happens in the view of those in charge; Critically analyze the responses based on the data collected. The methodology is based on bibliographical, empirical and field research, which used an interview script, applied to the target audience that were 10 (ten) parents (mother and father) of students. And the study is characterized by the qualitative approach. Data were collected using the semi-structured interview technique, which addressed open and closed questions. The analysis and interpretation of data were based on the transcription of the answers given in the interviews. The authors of the study are Ariès (2005), Dessen (2007), Junges (2016), Nogueira (1998-2005/2008/2011), Nóvoa (1995/2007), Poland (2005), Zago and others.
