Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5444The aim of this work is to question how the vanity and appreciation of beauty and youth move the main characters in Oscar Wilde's The Portrait of Dorian Gray (2014). We analyze in this work how Dorian Gray is influenced by the personages of the plot, with whom apparently they have homoafetivos platonic relationships. They are: the painter of his portrait, Basil Hallward and the aristocrat Lord Henry Wotton, who encourages him to exalt and enhance beauty and youth, so Dorian makes a pact with occult forces, so that his frame ages in his Place and receive the marks of their cruel acts. Not being punished for his actions the young man lives a life of excesses and pleasures that cause consequences for himself, for at one point he feels sorry, on the other hand, they also affect the people around him because many of them end up desolate, abandoned and Even dead. For this analysis we also conceptualize how beauty and youth are seen in the mythology of ancient Greece and Rome and in Victorian England, period when the of the novel occurs.Acesso AbertoDorian GrayOscar WildeBelezaVaidadePuniçãoBeautyVanityPunishmentCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LETRASCNPQ::LINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::ARTESA exaltação da beleza e da juventude em O retrato de Dorian Gray: vaidade e destruiçãoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
