The research is based on the observation that sustainable management practices in açaí production in the Bituba community have led to a decrease in species diversity and unsustainable production. The methodology adopted was a qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews with local residents, direct observations in the cultivation areas, and document analysis. The information was analyzed through content analysis. The results indicate that the more intensive management practiced in the community, while temporarily increasing income, contributes to long-term unsustainability, compromising both ecological balance and the local economy. In addition to environmental damage, the economic vulnerability of family farmers is observed, who face difficulties due to reduced productivity and poor fruit quality due to intensive management. The conclusion is that the adoption of sustainable practices, combined with producer training, is essential to ensure the continuity of agroextractive activities in a balanced and lasting manner.Acesso AbertoAçaíManejoSustentabilidadeAgricultura familiarSaberes tradicionaisManagement.
