The research adopts a bibliographic review methodology, with data collected from the Information Science Database (BRAPCI), prioritizing recent publications (2019-2024) that address the intersections between gender and the labor market in Librarianship. The results indicate that although women are the majority in this field, this predominance does not translate into greater social and professional recognition. The image of the librarian is often associated with stereotypical characteristics such as docility and subservience, which contributes to the intellectual invisibility of these professionals. Furthermore, the research reveals that the profession's devaluation is linked to the historical feminization of the field, reinforcing gender inequalities that limit career advancement and reduce the academic and social recognition of female librarians. The study highlights the need for actions that promote the visibility of women in Librarianship, suggesting strategies involving inclusive institutional policies, expansion of academic debate on gender, and encouragement of female participation in decision-making spaces. Finally, it argues that the recognition of Librarianship depends on the deconstruction of stereotypes and the promotion of practices that acknowledge the complexity and significance of librarians' work in contemporary society.
