Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5408This work aimed to carry out a geospatial analysis of the Afro-Brazilian religious temples in the Municipality of Ananindeua (PA), which is part of the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RTMB). Specifically, it was proposed to carry out an analysis of the spatial distribution of Afro-Brazilian religious temples in Ananindeua, based on primary and secondary data, with regard to their location by neighborhood, correlation with socioeconomic variables, and a more detailed study. detailed analysis of spatial relationships (flows, contacts between terreiros) based on three cases. Each terreiro is, following the guidelines of the Geography of Religion, a symbolic territory, in the sense of a sacred territory. The research had the support of the literature on the problem and the tools of geoprocessing, auxiliary to the analysis of the Geography of Religion and, furthermore, of Cultural Geography. In the survey and data crossing phase, the location of the terreiros by neighborhood was based on the collection of the website “Mapeando o Axé” and the Afro-Brazilian Institute Imaculada Conceição (IABIC). For the correlation with socioeconomic variables, population and household data from the neighborhoods were used, based on the grouping of census tracts from the IBGE – 2010 Demographic Census. The interviews were carried out with the support of a form sent through an application to those responsible for three terreiros, in order to analyze their spatial relationships. Maps were prepared using QGIS and Adobe Illustrator software, representing the spatial distribution of adherents of Afro-Brazilian religions in Brazil (states of the federation) and in the municipalities of Pará, location and spatial distribution of terreiros, spatialization of socioeconomic variables in Ananindeua (for neighborhoods), and the spatial flows from the terreiros. In the largest database, the total number of identified terreiros was 206, with more than 50% of them spread over 4 neighborhoods: Coqueiro, Águas Lindas, Icuí-Guajará and Águas Brancas. Despite a certain distribution pointing to the urban expansion area as the preferred location for Afro religions' terreiros, the insignificant or weak correlations with socioeconomic variables do not reveal patterns conditioned by factors such as ethnicity (% of black population), income ( average income of heads of household and per capita income) or schooling (% of literate heads of household). Finally, the spatial flows from these terreiros show that there are relationships at a metropolitan level, with regular visitors and assiduous guests from Belém and Marituba, as well as, of course, between the neighborhoods of Ananindeua.
