Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10042Cartography is an important tool for the representation and communication of spatial information and is widely used in educational, scientific, and technical contexts. However, the excessive reliance on color-based resources in map design may hinder the interpretation of information by individuals with color vision deficiencies, particularly those with color blindness. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between color blindness and cartographic accessibility, identifying strategies to make cartographic products more inclusive. The research is characterized as qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive, based on a literature review of scientific articles, books, and technical documents, in addition to an applied stage using the QGIS software. Grounded in the works of SILVA and GUEDES, DALTON, and TIRLONI and MACHADO, the investigation employed specialized recommendations to develop experimental thematic maps using hatching, textures, graphic patterns, and grayscale contrasts. The results indicated that these resources enhance the legibility of cartographic representations and facilitate the understanding of spatial information by different user profiles. It is concluded that the adoption of principles of cartographic accessibility and inclusive design contributes to democratizing access to geographic information and encourages the development of more accessible geotechnologies for all audiences in different contexts of everyday and professional use.
