Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8658With the population growth of people with visual impairments, and their eventual insertion in informational spaces, it is necessary to rethink their rights in the process of access to knowledge within the context of information mediation. Thus, the article defines as its general objective: to highlight the events that most marked the informational and sociocultural trajectory of the Braille sector; it defines as specific objectives: to seek to examine changes related to informational support, informational competence and the user profile. It is based on a qualitative, exploratory and documentary study, as it delves into analyzing a space and the profile of the people who frequent it, in addition to obtaining information through newspaper clippings from the Arthur Vianna Public Library itself, using as its main methodological technique the semi-structured interview composed of three open-ended questions asked to the pedagogue responsible for the Braille sector for over sixteen years, and the theoretical contribution of bibliographical research, which underpin a large part of the research. Through the interview we obtained pertinent information that outlined a large part of the development of the research. From this, the results showed that the evolution in terms of support, skills and user profile permeates the major assistive technologies, where the same plays an important role in terms of the main achievements of the space.
