Acesso em:https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9657During the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964–1985), large developmental projects transformed the urban network and the way cities were produced in the Amazon region. During this period, several new cities were created to support these projects. In this context, this study examines these issues through the case of Novo Repartimento, a city established to resettle part of the population affected by the construction of the Tucuruí Hydroelectric Plant. Based on the six attributes proposed by Trevisan (2020), the city’s project, as presented in the project’s technical documentation, was analyzed. The study revealed that the plan for this new city is characterized by the standardization typical of modern town planning, disregarding the diversity of lifestyles among the resettled population.
