The main objective is to understand how the devotion has been constructed, interpreted, and legitimized within the humanities, contributing to its transformation from a local religious practice into a cultural symbol and public heritage. Grounded in Social and Cultural History and the Social History of Knowledge, the research mobilizes concepts such as collective memory, identity, uses of the past, heritage, and symbolic disputes. Methodologically, this is a qualitative bibliographic and historiographical study based on a comparative analysis of academic works produced between 2007 and 2023. The analysis reveals the formation of a field of studies on Rei Sabá, characterized by distinct analytical focuses, methods, and conceptual disputes, as well as by significant silences and interpretative limits.
