In pediatrics, it differs by encompassing newborns to adolescents and actively involving the family. Treatment should be flexible and individualized, with early implementation, combined with therapies and multidisciplinary support, being fundamental. However, the lack of professional training and the fear of death may delay interventions. The study aimed to assess healthcare professionals' understanding of pediatric palliative care and the personal impact of this practice on their lives. Additionally, it sought to characterize the professionals' profiles, identify their knowledge of pediatric palliative care, compare their understanding of palliative care in adults and children, analyze the use of non-pharmacological measures for symptom relief, and understand the psychosocial impacts on professionals and families. This research was conducted in a hospital in Altamira, Pará, between 2024 and 2025. The sample consisted of 26 multidisciplinary team professionals from pediatric and neonatal ICUs. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire. The results showed a predominance of female participants, with most professionals having limited training in pediatric palliative care. The professionals emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, recognizing the crucial role of spiritual and emotional support for families, in addition to the psychological and social care provided to patients. Regarding the emotional aspect, professionals reported that working in pediatric palliative care has a significant emotional impact, including sadness and helplessness. They also highlighted that support strategies, such as psychological assistance and leisure activities for professionals, are essential in mitigating emotional strain. The study also underscored the need for a humanized approach in caring for patients and families after death.
