Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8715This paper presents the appreciation of Oral Literature through urban legends, examining the first studies by American researchers in the 20th century, and their progress and changes over the years. Next, the legend “The Woman of the Tomb” will be analyzed to verify the existing symbolic elements, as well as to construct the imaginary of the people of the municipality of Augusto Corrêa-PA. It also highlights the importance of recording these narratives so that they are not erased from the memory of the people and can be passed on to future generations. To this end, bibliographic research was conducted to understand the subject, as well as field research with older and younger residents to collect narratives for analysis. For the theoretical framework, authors such as Benjamin (1994), Brunvand (2002), Cascudo (2012), Le Goff (1990), Todorov (2004), Zumthor (2000), and other authors who were essential to the text were used.
