This work presents a comparative analysis of traffic signal cycles at a crossroads located at the intersection between Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Avenue and Generalíssimo Deodoro Avenue, in Belém (PA). The objective is to evaluate the current traffic signal cycle in operation and propose an ideal cycle based on observed vehicular demands. Using applied methodology, the study began with bibliographic and normative research, followed by on-site data collection, including vehicle flows classified by type and movement. The intersection has two approaches and four main vehicular movements, regulated by three vehicular focal groups and four pedestrian signals. The analysis included traffic signal dimensioning according to the Brazilian Traffic Signaling Manual – Volume V, and CONTRAN standards, using parameters such as equivalent traffic volume, occupancy rate, lost time, intergreen time, and application of the Webster method for calculating the optimal cycle. The ideal cycle proposal seeks to optimize green and intergreen times to reduce delays and improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.
