Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1039The perception of the watershed as the unit of planning and environmental management has become increasingly present in the policies of territorial planning in the different spheres and scales in space and time, rising to national borders. In this perspective, this work, if it gives to analyze the use and occupation of the soil, through the application of geotechnology, in the upper course of the watershed of river Uraim, which is located in the municipality of Paragominas, in Pará state, between the following coordinates longitude 47º15’0’W; 47º30’0’W and latitude 2º55’0’’S. The basin is a series of rivers, whose main channel cuts through the urban area of the municipality of Paragominas - PA, which leverages the need of a attention towards the basin, mainly due to it being a river of great importance. Because, besides supplying the city, the river is also depository effluents, which contradicts the national guidelines linked to the National Policies of the Environment. Given the context deficit of the actions of the river basin management in the national context, the basin in the analysis is finding subjected to the pressures of anthropogenic generation of environmental impacts, without regard to the peculiarities of the ecological systems, local and, above all, unbinding the need of the implementation of the actions of environmental conservation as a condition to the promotion of the quality of life of the local population. Based on this, this research was undertaken with a view to identifying areas of conflicts of use within the zones legally established as Areas of Permanent Preservations (APP's), as well as the intensification of farming activities and the expansion of urban cores in the clipping temporal space, highlighting the removal of vegetation across the landscapes analyzed. Realize that over time the natural landscapes have been transformed progressively, in the absence of compliance with the normative legal, to give place to the productive activities of people, among them predominate the growth of the urban area and the increase of farming activities. In this way, was based on the techniques and tools of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System for the achievement of results. For this, we have made the acquisition of four satellite images being three of them of Landsat 5 and Landsat 8, the sensors TM and OLI, respectively, acquired through the website of the INPE and of the American Geological Service (USGS), which subject to the procedures of classification by digital image processing. The results were obtained through the supervised classification of images using the AircGIS, aiming to identify, quantify and specialty the different classes of use and occupation of the soil of the upper course of the basin above the years of 1984, 1995, 2008, and 2017.
