However, despite their scientific and educational relevance, many of these collections still have limited visibility within society, highlighting the need for science communication strategies capable of bringing the public closer to the knowledge produced in these environments. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze the use of Instagram as a science communication tool for the zoological collection of the Integrated Zoology Laboratory, affiliated with the Institute of Coastal Studies at the Universidade Federal do Pará. To achieve this, digital content such as informational folders, illustrated posts, and short videos in reels format were produced and published, addressing topics related to Amazonian biodiversity, environmental conservation, and the teaching, research, and outreach activities developed by the zoological collection. The methodology involved the creation and management of the institutional Instagram profile @labzoo.iecos, as well as the analysis of metrics provided by the platform itself, including likes, shares, comments, reach, and follower growth. During the project execution period, 30 digital contents were produced, including educational folders, records of visits, exhibitions, and informative videos. The results demonstrated a growth of more than 60% in the number of profile followers, directly impacting increased public engagement and broader reach of audiovisual publications, especially reels, which achieved an average of approximately 2.4 thousand views. The actions carried out highlighted the potential of Instagram as an effective tool for the popularization of science, democratization of scientific knowledge, and strengthening of the relationship between university and society. Furthermore, the study reinforces the importance of social media as instruments for environmental education, scientific literacy, and the appreciation of zoological collections as scientific and cultural heritage.
